Travel To Orlando And Podfest
In this episode of the iCantCU Podcast, I talk about traveling on my own to Orlando and going to Podfest Multimedia Expo. While at the airport on the way to Florida after clearing security, I realized it wasn’t that different from traveling by train. Passing through security was the biggest difference. At Podfest, I was offered assistance from many attendees, even those who weren’t on #TeamBennett. Thanks for your help, Dave Bennett!
Start Ugly
The biggest takeaway at Podfest was to start. That has always been the mantra. The phrase Start Ugly was used often because that is the name of Chris Krimitsos’ book. As I kept hearing speaker after speaker talking about just starting and then say something like, “Just like Chris says, it is not going to be perfect. Don’t wait for it to be perfect or you’ll never start…” The more I thought of that reminded me of Jane. I started talking to her about starting on Youtube when she was in seventh grade. She still hasn’t started. I told her a year ago or so to start a podcast. I told her to do it on beauty, fashion, nutrition, tattoos, or whatever. Just start. She hasn’t. When I heard Chris talking to someone in the hallway on the last day of Podfest, I walked over toward his voice and waited for him to finish with the person or people he was speaking with. He noticed me and came over to ask me how things were going and if I was enjoying Podfest. I told him how much I enjoyed the event and then asked him if he had any copies of his book on him. He did. I asked him if he could sign a copy. I told him about how I’ve been hounding Jane for about a decade to start; first with Youtube and now with a podcast. He laughed and then signed it and wrote something to Jane. If you need a little kick in the butt to get started, check out Start Ugly by Chris Krimitsos at Amazon.
